This Privacy Policy describes how My Barista Friend ("we", "us", or "the app") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application. We've kept this short and plain-English on purpose — your privacy matters and you should be able to understand what we do with your data.
1. What we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Your email address (or your Apple ID, if you sign in with Apple)
- A unique account identifier
We do not collect your name, mailing address, phone number, or other identifying information unless you choose to share it.
Subscription information
If you purchase a subscription, the transaction is processed by Apple through the App Store. From Apple, we receive:
- Confirmation that your subscription is active
- The type of subscription you have (monthly or yearly)
We do not receive your credit card number, billing address, or any other payment information. Apple handles all of that directly.
App usage data
To improve the app, we collect basic usage information:
- Recipes you favorite
- Recipe categories you browse most
- App version and device type (iPhone model, iOS version)
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, browsing history, or any other personal data.
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect only to:
- Provide and operate the app
- Manage your account and subscription
- Sync your favorite recipes across your devices
- Improve features based on aggregate (non-identifiable) usage patterns
3. How we share your information
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising.
We share data only with the following service providers, and only as needed to run the app:
- Apple — for App Store payments and Sign in with Apple authentication
- Supabase — our database provider, which securely stores your account and favorites
- Expo / EAS — our app build and update infrastructure
These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only to support the app's operation.
4. Data storage and security
Your data is stored on secure servers operated by Supabase, encrypted both in transit and at rest. We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete all associated data within 30 days.
5. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the data we have about you
- Update your account information
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Export a copy of your favorites and account history
To exercise any of these rights, you can use the in-app Settings (where available) or email us at dakota@inclinedma.com. We'll respond within 7 days.
6. Children's privacy
My Barista Friend is intended for users 13 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll delete it promptly.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Effective date" at the top of this page and notify users in the app. Continued use of My Barista Friend after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
